The Seven Fantasy types
(Female)
You may have seen in the artist comments of my deviations a reference to
a certain quality that one or another character has that puts her into
one of several categories that I may have refered to as
"Fantasy"or "Magic Types".
People have noted me asking what one type or another was about and
what the other types were.
Not wanting to type that much, I didn't answer many.
(until now)...
In the art cliques that I fallen in and out of, The seven types are well known.
Especially amongst the writers of Fiction in this genre, But I realize that this
may be a local thing.
It is important to realize that these descriptions may vary from person to person,
and there is certainly room for hybrids:
AND I CAN ONLY DEFINE THEM AS I SEE THEM.
(that being said)...
It has been my experience that the seven headings listed below are fairly constant.
and the categories are;
Human
Warrior
Witch
Priestess
Sorceress
Earth Spirit
Etherial
At first I thought to place them all in one shot, But it turns out that
the explainations as I went got rather long so I will post in installments of two.
Starting with the Human seems logical.
The human is the below to above average character that generally gets a story
rolling in the first place. This is the damsel in distress type, or the person who
bumbles her way into the affairs of higher beings and becomes involved in matters
Metaphysical.
This person has no powers of her own, (magical anyway) and very likely will need
rescuing provided she survives long enough.
Next up is the Warrior
Isn't this a "human" also?
Yes she is actually. The difference is the way she deals with a given situation.
The female warrior/adventurer comes in both the hard- line "no nonsense" type
who can kick a door down and kill every man, woman, cat and dog in the room,
(think Zena, Red Sonya, or any of the lethal ones )...
OR
she can be the vixen that uses her feminine wiles to get her enemies into a vulnerable
position and finish them off with minimum effort, or at least get her enemies to destroy
each other.
(think Judith, Delilah, Solome or most Pam Grier roles).
Perhaps the "smarter" of the two but overall it rarely ends well for her.
Next time;
We get into the magic with
Witches and the High Priestess
